Heartland Hospice Serving Greater Lehigh Valley recently had the privilege of caring for a patient whose wish was to attend a service at her church. The hospice staff arranged for the patient to leave her facility with her son and make this wish come true. Below is a letter from the patient’s son expressing his gratitude for the experience.
My mother and I are so grateful for the emotional support that Heartland Hospice has given to us, and for your efforts that enabled my mother to go to church with me. Both my mother and I have grown closer through this process.
Church was always a big part of my Mom’s life. She faithfully went to church every Sunday until she became ill. Her heart’s desire was to once more go to church and participate in a service. This wish became our goal, and together with the hospice team, we made this happen at Christmas. The beautiful pictures of Mom attending this service will bring me peace when Mom passes. It was a great experience that will fill our hearts with gratitude forever!
My mother and I feel that sharing this experience may help others and give them hope and acceptance of the great care that hospice can provide. Again, I want to thank everyone from the hospice team for making this happen.”
