For the last few years, Vernon Area Public Library has hosted a day where families can go to the library to create scarves or blankets for people in need. With the library closed this year, Jen Ernsteen, organizer of the project, came up with a way to coordinate the project safely.
After learning that many library volunteers had been looking for ways to contribute, Jen successfully found eight volunteers who were able to safely come together to create soft, fleece blankets. The blankets were delivered to Heartland Hospice Serving Chicagoland North because Jen always looks for opportunities to work with hospice organizations after losing a parent to cancer.
