Heartland Hospice serving South Florida recently celebrated their patient’s 101st Birthday!
Miriam was born in New York City and stayed there until her retirement when she moved to Florida. She enjoys the company of her Heartland Hospice team as many of her relatives are no longer around. Miriam is having a difficult time adjusting to being less independent, but she appreciates everything the hospice team is doing to help her.
When the team found out her birthday was coming up, they wanted to make it a special day for Miriam. They organized a surprise party which included her favorite chicken wings, cake, balloons and a sing-along with the team. Marianela, music therapist, played some of her favorite songs, including “New York, New York”, and then the entire team sang “Happy Birthday” to Miriam.
“This is a memory that will stay with me forever. I never had a surprise party and I am very grateful my team did this for me. I can’t believe how kind and loving the team is, I know this came from their heart. I am just so grateful you did this for me,” said Miriam.
