Amber Burley has been the resident program director at Springhouse of Pikesville (MD) senior living community for almost 15 years! Everyone knows Amber for her abounding creativity, never-ending enthusiasm and for always having a smile on her face. She loves working at Springhouse and seeing the residents engage socially. What most people don't know about Amber is that she is deathly afraid of needles, of any sort. In fact, she loathes getting shots of any type.
Despite her fear of needles, Amber didn't hesitate to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Of the many reasons why she chose to be vaccinated, she knew it was the right thing to do to keep her residents, friends and family safe. She also feels this is the next step in helping to get life back to normal and to give hugs!
"I felt fine after receiving the shot and encourage others to do their research so they can make an informed decision for themselves. I still did it even though I am scared and hate needles. I was encouraged seeing a large majority of the residents and other employees receive their vaccinations and hope everyone will consider getting the vaccine. I know the world will still be different once the vaccination is available to the general public, but people will be able to spend time with their family and friends without worrying if they will get them sick," said Amber.
