World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2017

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is being held October 14, 2017, as a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world. This year’s theme, “Universal Health Coverage and Palliative Care – Don’t leave those suffering behind” focuses on the critical issue of access to essential medicines for pain management and palliative care worldwide.

At Heartland, we would like to thank our caring team for enriching the lives of our patients and their families every day. Their guidance and support to help eligible patients get access to hospice benefits, as they face the many challenges of living with a life-limiting illness, is admirable. The Heartland Hospice Care team consists of: patients and families, Heartland’s Medical Director, the patient’s physician, registered nurses, hospice aides, social worker, spiritual care coordinator, bereavement counselor, dietitian, pharmacist, physical, occupational and speech/language therapists, volunteers.

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is organized by a committee of the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance, a network of hospice and palliative care national and regional organizations that support the development of hospice and palliative care worldwide.
