World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is being held October 12, 2019, as a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world. This year’s theme, “My Care, My Right” speaks to the importance of quality palliative care as a human right that patients and caregivers can demand for themselves and their loved ones within Universal Health Coverage.

At Heartland Hospice, we would like to thank our caring team for enriching the lives of our patients and their families every day. Their guidance and support to help eligible patients get access to hospice benefits, as they face the many challenges of living with a life-limiting illness, is admirable. The Heartland Hospice Care team consists of: patients and families, Heartland’s Medical Director, the patient’s physician, registered nurses, hospice aides, social worker, spiritual care coordinator, bereavement counselor, dietitian, pharmacist, physical, occupational and speech/language therapists, volunteers.

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is organized by a committee of the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance, a network of national and regional hospice and palliative care and regional organizations that support the development of hospice and palliative care worldwide.
